Our History

The Darville Company began as Odessa Sheet Metal & Roofing in 1947 on South Grant then moved to 503 E. 1st Street in 1950, the business grew to a larger facility in 1986, at 213 N. Hancock.

"My father and I thought that the first little shop was something and really big" said Wayne Darville. And as with his father, Wayne Darville started work at age 13. He swept the floors of the company business and started learning the trade.

"Before I left for college at A&M (University in the 1950s), I had already learned a trade. I knew I would have a job if times ever got tough," said Wayne Darville., who was the second company president.

In the 1950s, the business name changed to Odessa Sheet Metal & Refrigeration after it's newly added air conditioning service. Under it's new president, Wayne Darville, the company continued to expand by adding plumbing services. He also changed the business name to The Darville Company in 1976.

While working for his father, Wayne Darville said he learned how important it was to "give customers more than they pay for and to be courteous and respectful."

Mark Darville maintains the same family work ethic and company philosophy as his father and grandfather. "Technology is a big part of what we do now, but it can never take the place of the one to one relationship we have with our customers," says Mark. As for the future, "I am looking at steady growth - not a stretch of grand changes that are tied to a boom. It is slow, steady growth that secures a company and will see The Darville Company into the future."

See the difference using a family owned business can make. Call Darville for heating and cooling, plumbing and emergencies. "Remember our slogan," reminds Mark, "Whenever you need us, we'll be there...because we will be there to help anytime you need us."

"Nothing can take the place of the one to one relationship we have with our customers."
